As a geriatric psychiatrist, Dr. Mourra’s primary forensic expertise is in issues of capacity and competency, including conservatorship and testamentary capacity. Additionally, she has been retained in cases involving issues relating to older adults including medical malpractice, caregiver burnout and elder abuse (financial abuse, physical and verbal abuse, undue influence and quality of care). Dr. Mourra is able to assess the contributions of psychiatric comorbidities to forensics cases including mood and psychotic disorders, cognitive impairment and dementia, medications and medical conditions, and complex social factors that affect older adults. Dr. Mourra has provided expert witness testimony on these varied issues.
